Journaling Feng Shui

Journaling is an excellent tool for dealing emotionally with almost any issue in life. The therapeutic applications of journal writing are endless. But it’s also true that sometimes you feel stuck, unable to make a move in any direction, and not even able to sit down comfortably with your notebook.

For any number of reasons, known and/or unknown, you feel empty. You want to get answers, but you’re paralyzed in some limbo of inaction. You’re uninspired, listless, drifting. You haven’t even cleaned your house for the past month.

Hold it right there. When in doubt, simplify. Could it be that modifying your environment will energize you?

As sentient beings, people are affected by their environments. The flow of energy and the balance of forces in a given environment are studied in the ancient Chinese art of feng shui. Feng shui observes that clutter brings low, confusing, and draining energy into your home, which is detrimental to your own energy and well-being.

Clearing out physical clutter can seem like an overwhelming and tedious process, but when you live and work in a clear, open space, your mind also becomes free and uncluttered.

Your ease and wellbeing have everything to do with your surroundings. Could it be that your ennui is a result of the mess around you?

Here are some ideas to make the task of de-cluttering more palatable.

1. In the room or space where you plan to do your journaling, set a timer for 15 minutes.

2. Turn on some favorite music, open windows if the weather allows, invite a loved one to join in if you wish.

3. Clean one area of the space for the 15 minutes. Throw out as much as possible.

4. Be merciless. If you can’t think of a reason to keep it in a few seconds, get rid of it! Hoarding is a generally unhealthy thing to do.

5. Stop when the timer buzzes. Take a step back and admire your work. Great job!

If you want to, set the timer for another 15 or 30 minutes, and continue. Or just do 15 a day for a while. At some point, the room will be clean and refreshed. Now open your journal and write about the experience.

Energizing The Feng Shui Love Corner In Your Bedroom

In addition to the general feng shui tips on love romance, you can also energize and protect your personalized “nien yen” (Romance & Love) direction and location. Check your personal nien yen direction at “How To Calculate Your KUA Number And Know Your Auspicious Directions” article; then try to understand and apply at least 3 of the following feng shui tips for your bedroom. It is never feasible for all the tips to be perfect and get everything correctly aligned to suit your most auspicious direction. If your nien yen is South,
Shine a bright light in your bedroom’s South corner. Next, place a small red light in your bedroom’s Northwest corner, and make an effort to hang a windchime in the Northeast corner of your bedroom.

If your nien yen is Northwest,
Invest in clear-cut crystal which is reasonably-priced and place it in the Northwest corner of your bedroom. Then, you should position a piece of furniture painted black in the South. Last but not least, place a metal windchime in your bedroom’s Southeast.

If your nien yen is Southeast,
Place a small red light in your bedroom’s Southeast corner. Place another red light in the Northwest and then hang a windchime in the Northeast.

If your nienyen is East,
You must place a small red light in the East of your bedroom. Then, you should decorate your bedroom’s West corner with something red, and the Southwest corner with something black.

If your nienyen is Northwest,
In your bedroom’s Northwest corner, place a silver picture frame. Then, you should decorate your bedroom’s East and Southeast in metallic or gray colors.

If your nienyen is Southwest,
In your bedroom’s Southwest corner, place a red light or crystals. You should also place some crystals in the North corner and decorate your bedroom’s East corner in metallic colors.

If your nienyen is Northeast,
In the Northeast of your bedroom, do place a red light or crystals. Next, you should decorate your bedroom’s East and Southeast in metallic or gray colors.

If your nienyen is West,
In your bedroom’s West wall, hang a silver-framed photo and also place a golden or silver collared bedspread on your bed. Next, you should place crystals in your bedroom’s North corner.

If your nien yen is in the North,
In your bedroom’s North area, display something small that is painted black. Decorate your bedroom’s West and Southwest corners with metallic or gray colors.

Are Colors Important in Feng Shui

Does color play an important role in Feng Shui? This is a very common question my clients ask me most of the time.

The answer to this question has to take into consideration the viewpoint of the practitioner who prescribes it. Some practitioners consider it relevant insofar as their application of Feng Shui is concerned whereas others may think colors as only having a psychological influence on people.

Based on my observation and research, colors do evokes certain moods in people when applied in line with the interior design of the living space. There are certain systems in Feng Shui where colors can be integrated into the applications based on the element of the person. In Chinese Astrology, a person has an inherent element known as life gua which is based on one of the five elements that made up the universe. These elements are wood, fire, earth, metal and water and there are intrinsic colors associated with each of them. Therefore, the choice of colors to use in a living space such as a bedroom can be based on the life kua of the person sleeping in it.

For example if your life gua number is 3 which is associated with the wood element, the best color for the bedroom is green. If your life gua is 9 which is associated with the fire element, the ideal color to use is red. If your life kua is 1 which is associated with the water element, then blue or black is good.

Another simple method of using colors considers the energy of the living space. In Feng Shui, there is a system known as Flying Stars which studies the energy or -qi- affecting nine sectors of a house. Flying Stars are therefore given numerals of 1 – 9. A star can fly into a sector and occupies it for a period of time as long as twenty years. For example, when there is a star of 1 sitting in a bedroom, the right color to use is blue. This is because the star of 1 is of the water element which is associated with blue color. A room can also have a star facing it which may carry the numeral 6. In Chinese metaphysics, metal produces water. Therefore, the room can also be painted with white color as white is associated with metal. Since both colors are in productive elemental relationship, the colors of the room are in harmony with one another and will bring positive vibes to the occupants of the room in terms of health.

There is also a system in Feng Shui known as Eight Mansions House Gua which may allow the Feng Shui practitioner to use colors that considers the interplay between the elements of the wandering star that occupies the bedroom and the element of the sector. You get another color option here.

There are some Feng Shui practitioners who employ Chinese Astrological system such as Ba Zi for recommending suitable colors based on the most favorable element in the natal chart of the residents.

The other school of thought concerns the use of physical items such as trinkets, ornaments and decorative earthenware as energy activators. For these practitioners who are more likely from the new aged school of Feng Shui, the preference for physical items are based on the common belief that these activators represents the elements that they need e.g. wind chime when a metal element is required or a jar of water when the water element is required.

When a practitioner uses colors arbitrarily without considering the various Feng Shui’s systems and their subtle impact on the energy of a living space, there may be conflicts. For example, a good color choice based on the Flying Star system may be bad from a Ba Zi perspective and vice versa. The secret is to find a color that blends harmoniously between two systems.

In Feng Shui, colors are not all that potent in enhancing the energy of a living space compared to the surrounding forms, the location of the main door, kitchen and bedrooms, the orientation of the main door, stove and beds.

Asian Arowana – An Insight Into This Great Arowana Fish

The Asian arowana is more commonly known as the Chinese dragon fish in the local areas where it is found. There are great myths and legends that surround this great fish which have lead to its popularity as a pet in many households worldwide. The Asian arowana has now become one of the most valuable and collected fish in the arowana breed. In Asian and Chinese folklore the arowana fish is said to radiate luck, wealth and prosperity onto its owner and household.

This arowana fish is a freshwater fish that is to be found in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. These great fish which have lived on the planet for almost 140 million years have remained virtually unchanged in this time period which is remarkable. They are known to grow to between 3-4 feet in length in an aquarium but have been known to grow bigger in there normal environment.

The arowana itself like most of the breeds of arowana is a carnivore. Basically it will eat most fish or animals that is small enough to put in its mouth. So you are looking at a basic diet of small insects, frogs and even small birds. This fish can also jump from the water if needs be to catch its prey and has been known to jump up to 1 meter out of a river. With this title comes a down side, the Asian arowana has now become very scarce and has been placed on the CITES endangered list. The CITES treaty is one of the toughest and most restrictive forces on international trade and there is heavy penalties in many countries worldwide for the illegal owning of an Asian arowana. In the U.S., owning one of these fish is completely prohibited under the Endangered Species Act (except for public zoos and aquariums, if they can obtain permits).

The reasons for the scarcity of the Asian arowana can come down to a few factors.

1. Over fishing for food by local communities in southeast asia.
2. The illegal catching of the wild Asian arowana for the aquarium trade. The red and asian arowana is used in the set up of feng shui aquariums and they command high prices.
3. With town and city expansion today the arowanas natural environment and breeding grounds are becoming smaller and under pressure, leading to the disappearance of the fish.

To combat the disappearance of the great Asian arowana CITES have set up a number of monitored fish farms in southeast Asia to supply fish to the aquarium trade. Each fish bred and sold from these fish farms is documented with a certificate and implanted with a microchip. This is to help clamp down on illegal arowana coming into the supply system.
